Meet the Artist

From Toolmaker to Artist
My name is Cathy and I am a proud Detroit toolmaker who has spent my entire career working right here in the city that knows how to build things to last. My life with steel started at 15 years old when I rebuilt my very first machine. Since then I have worked in every industry building tools and gauges for everything from cars and airplanes to military tanks and appliances. I have spent over 40 years mastering the precision of metalwork and I spent most of my career doing close tolerance gauge work. I even had the honor of spending 6 months working in the Armington & Sims Machine Shop at Greenfield Village. While I was there I rebuilt Thomas Edison’s OD grinder so when you visit the village you can still see my work on display today.
Now I am taking all those years of experience and turning them into art. I use my background in high precision gauge work to ensure every piece is created with the highest level of detail and care.
